Gutenberg Project

Fall is here... and with fall it is time for lazy sundays reading books in the sofa!!! This thought made me think of Gutenberg Project of which I got acquainted recently. It is about books, free books... and everyone can help!

This project started in 1971 with the purpose of encouraging the distribution of books. Today that is done through books available for download in all sorts of formats, for FREE.

I just loved the idea! Imagine, getting all the books available online for whenever we fancy read that last paragraph and we do not have the book around, or for when we would like to browse through an old classic which we cannot find anymore in the book stores, or just for all the people that do not have money to buy books but like reading.

In order to make this project to happen, they need volunteers. The work is quite simple: you get a scanned page, which was already been converted into a word processor. The conversion does not work perfectly so the work of the volunteers is simply to correct the mistakes of the process.
